Well THAT Was Interesting

11.9 inches of snow yesterday at Louisville airport, something we northerners like to call “a foot of it”. Back in my Chicago and Minneapolis days something like this would only be a small-to-medium deal. Here it’s literally a disaster. Roads closed, schools closed, even grocery stores and gas stations are closed. Some parts of the state got a full 20 inches, which is just about unprecedented. Being one of the only families on the block with multiple snow shovels and a jumper kit, we Pastrys have been busy. Hope to return to baking shortly.

    1. They aren’t too hard, Anna! Designs are easy to get and you can build them using materials you can buy at any hardware store. Summer’s coming up…now’s the time to float the request. Tell him to think of the bragging rights!

    1. The one by our house was closed I’m pretty sure. Anyway, we ate pasta!

  1. So there was no wind to speak of at your house…the pile of snow inside the oven is symetrically perfect. In SoCal my tee shots were ten to fifteen degrees off axis two hours after sunrise but the ocean swells were five to six feet by mid-afternoon!

    1. Hey Dave!

Well observed! It seemed to me like there was a lot of blowing and drifting, but evidently less that I assumed. Now that I’m looking at it there’s another little snow cone on the hoe hanging on the oven’s right wall. Funny. Thanks for the comment!

  2. OK, I have seen enough of your backyard to know you must be the greatest neighbor is the world. That’s a wonderful thing you got there.

    1. Haha! That thing does have the effect of drawing the neighbors, Johan. Once everyone thought the cloud of smoke meant our house was burning down. Now it means: come and get it! 😉

      Cheers,

  3. Give us our snow back! Wyoming needs it. Our little ski town is going crazy because it is so warm and dry. We’ll gladly take that stuff.

    1. Hey Dawn!

Come and get it, please! One of my very best friends is a ski instructor in Utah. He complains that this is the second year in a row that all the snow has fallen in the wrong place!
